Job description
We look forward to reading your application for the role of Front Line Policing Advisor.
The selected candidate will draft and develop evidence-based policing standards and guidance to support Front Line Policing, engaging with, consulting and advising police forces, agencies and other stakeholder organisations, to support the promotion and embedding of professional practice across policing.
Person specification
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Collecting, Interpreting and critically evaluating information and best available evidence from a range of sources to determine and develop cost-efficient, value for money options and opportunities for policing standards and guidance which promote professional approaches and deliver improvements in working practices across policing.
- Providing support, guidance and consultancy advice to Police Forces and other agencies within the area of Front Line Policing, specially Contact Management, Response and Neighbourhood Policing to identify and develop policies and solutions to new issues and share knowledge to enable consistent approaches across policing.
- Identifying inhibitors, benefits and risks in maintaining prevailing working practices and procedures across all areas of Front Line Policing, including consideration of the implications for partner agencies and communities, assisting the police service to see the benefits of a programme management approach to implementing and sustaining evidence-based professional approaches to policing.
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- A Degree or equivalent level 5 qualification and/or significant equivalent work experience in area of subject matter expertise
- Experience of problem-solving and using an evidence-based approach to develop and/or establish standards for professional practice
- Demonstrable experience of working successfully with organisations and/or communities to improve service delivery and implement new ways of working
- Up-to-date subject matter expertise and evidence of CPD in front line policing

The role is available as a 2 years secondment opportunity to:
- serving police officers substantive in the rank of Inspector or those officers suitably qualified for temporary promotion in the rank of Sergeant. All applicants must have the support of their Chief Officer which must be of NPCC rank, i.e., CC, ACC or DCC and this must accompany an application.
Central service conditions will apply for police officers and temporary promotion is available.
